Why Now
The soft blue moment in fashion has been building for several seasons. Powder blue runways, cornflower blue street style, slate editorials. Brides — who are always three steps ahead of the trend cycle when it comes to colour — caught on early. What began as a mood board curiosity has become the dominant request in our studio.
The Right Shade
Not all blues are created equal for bridal. The colours working hardest right now are dusty blue (a muted, greyish tone with a chalky finish), powder blue (soft and clean, almost a watercolour), and periwinkle (the border between blue and lavender, effortlessly romantic). Avoid anything too saturated — bridal blue should feel like morning light, not a statement wall.
How to Wear It
Dusty blue shoes read beautifully against ivory, off-white, and champagne. They also pair unexpectedly well with warm-toned gowns — the contrast is sophisticated rather than jarring. For outdoor ceremonies, the natural light does extraordinary things to a chalky blue satin.
